XL Horticulture's Smart Green Polythene was the first commercially available Polytunnel Cover Growth Manipulation Film.

It is designed for those plants that would normally grow on a forest floor. Originally trialled by the Duchy College in Cornwall for their Camellia crop it not only gave them bigger plants

but also better plants.

Since then, customers have had experience with many different crops showing that you can dramatically improve crops which, in their natural environment come from the forest floor. However, it can also have an adverse effect on crops that normally come from full sun. XL's recommendation is to use Sterilite Premium Polythene or Sunmaster Polythene if you are growing a mixed crop of sun/shade plants.

• UV Open - The UV Open characteristics of this film gives natural UV levels.

• NR/FR Manipulation - Smart Green Polytunnel Polythene simulates the light spectrum under a forest canopy where the mature trees filter out much of the red light. Much of the photosynthesis occurs in this wavelength and they have filtered it out. Plants that are native to this environment have therefore evolved to grow better under this modified spectrum. the benefit is that you can grow better shade loving plants simply by mimicking their natural environment.

• Anti Fog / Anti Drip - Smart Green Polythene has an Anti Fog / Anti Drip agent which breaks down the surface tension of the condensation droplets so that they run down the sheet, reducing drips and subsequently retaining light clarity.

• Strong - Smart Green Polythene contains a special metallocene additive, which adds tremendous strength to the film.

• Thickness - 600g / 150mu film.

• Five Year Life - Smart Green Polythene has a Five year life Guarantee against premature UV degradation of film (guarantee terms and conditions apply).
